Daniel Gabbidon has labelled Tottenham’s £12million signing of Toby Alderweireld back in 2015 as an “absolute bargain”.
Alderweireld, 28, was named in the Premier League’s PFA Team of the Year for 2015-16 and has continued his fantastic form this season with Spurs sitting in second place.
Former West Ham defender Gabbidon lauded Spurs’ business to sign the former Atletico Madrid defender for such a small price on his personal Twitter account, when replying to a fan.

Belgium international Alderweireld is one of the first names on Mauricio Pochettino’s team sheets at the moment, lining up alongside the likes of Eric Dier or Jan Vertonghen.
Making 27 league and cup appearances for the north London giants this season, Alderweireld has helped his side taste victory 17 times as well as keeping 14 clean sheets in the process.
His form has inspired Spurs to second place in the Premier League as well as a semi-final slot in the FA Cup, but was unable to shut the door during Spurs’ outings in Europe.
Alderweireld, who has also turned out for Southampton and Ajax, is expected to start on Sunday as Spurs take on the Saints at White Hart Lane.
Three points against his former side could see Alderweireld and the rest of his Spurs teammates close the gap on league leaders Chelsea to just seven points, if Antonio Conte’s men lose to Watford on Monday night.
