‘Daniel Levy issue blasted as main problem at Tottenham, not Ange Postecoglou’

Tottenham owner Daniel Levy is part of the “main problem” at the club and not manager Ange Postecoglou, a former Spurs star has claimed said on talkSPORT.

Postecoglou has come under fire for Spurs’ poor performances this season, with the North London side sat 15th in the Premier League table.

Tottenham lost their most recent match against Everton 3-2 (19 January), and found themselves 3-0 down in 45 minutes before scoring two late consolation goals.

However, despite their recent results, Postecoglou has received backing from Chris Sutton, who said the Australian deserved time after his “overachievement” last year.

Now, former Tottenham striker Mido, has come to the defence of the Aussie saying: “It’s embarrassing. But I don’t think the main problem is Ange. Or any other coach and I’m being honest here,

“The people at the top have been running the club from a financial point of view, not from a football point of view.

“I feel sorry for every Spurs fan, and I’m one of them, the club has been run with these ideas.”

Tottenham are prepared to ride out poor form with Postecoglou in charge

Football Insider Verdict

Levy, like most owners of high-profile clubs, receives his fare share of flak when things are going wrong.

The English businessman has been chairman at Spurs since 2001 and has been seen as a frugal spender.

Postecoglou dealt with the tumultuous exit of Harry Kane in his first season, and won the hearts and minds of Spurs fans for his honest and witty personality.

However, the wheels have felt like they are falling off in recent weeks as the former Celtic manager has seen his side decimated by injuries.

Having to rely on 18-year-old midfielder, Archie Gray, as his starting centre-back has been highlighted as a significant gap in the recruitment made by Levy.

Despite his tight-fisted reputation, Levy has shown a willingness to back his manager in the transfer market, and Spurs fans will be pleased to hear that more signings are likely to happen in January.

One of the players linked with Tottenham recently was Alejandro Garnacho, however, Peter O’Rourke exclusively told Football Insider the deal is “unlikely” to happen.

In other news, Spurs’ scouts are reportedly watching Inter Milan centre-back Alessandro Bastoni.
