‘Daniel Levy to sack Postecoglou after new twist – Watch this space’

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is likely to be forced to sack Ange Postecoglou amid growing pressure from fans, according to the club’s former scout.

Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected at Tottenham and also worked as the chief scout at Man United and Blackburn, exclusively told Football Insider that pressure on Levy has increased the chances of the manager’s exit.

This comes after large sections of the crowd loudly protested against the chairman’s tenure with songs and banners on display during the 2-1 home defeat against Ipswich.

Brown previously told Football Insider that, as things stand, Postecoglou is set to stay in the job and the board are keen to be patient given their injury issues.

However, as pressure continues to ramp up both on the manager and the chairman, it may be a matter of time until Levy pulls the trigger.

The former scout explained that Levy has form for sacking bosses when the pressure starts to grow on his position, and will consider doing so again.

During the 24 years that Levy and ENIC have been involved with Tottenham, the club have had 16 permanent managers, only one of which has had any success.

Rather than placing the pressure solely on Postecoglou, who has also come in for plenty of stick, fans have largely aimed their frustration and the chairman and ownership.

As a result, Brown, who has worked closely with a number of high-profile manager and owners during his extensive career in football, warned fans to “watch this space” as the pressure continues to build.

It’s mapping out at Tottenham as it often has done over the years,” he told Football Insider.

“The manager of the time needs players, it gets to a point where the chairman is accused of keeping his hands in his pockets, he starts getting pressure from the fans, and he sacks the manager.

“He’s sacked 15 managers during his time there.

“It’s ‘watch this space’ at Tottenham at the moment.

“They’ve been down this road before.

Chairmen, particularly Daniel Levy, don’t like pressure from the fans so they react and make a decision. That’s not my opinion, it’s a fact, it’s history.

“When the pressure comes on them, they don’t handle it well.

“So anything that happens at Tottenham will not surprise me.”
