Danny Higginbotham has ironically stated that Garry Monk would be “perfect” for Swansea after they sacked manager Bob Bradley on Tuesday evening.

The Premier League side parted company with the American and Higginbotham joked that the Whites senior figure should return to his former club.

Monk, who was sacked by the Welsh outfit in December 2015, has done a terrific job since taking over the post at Elland Road in the summer.

The 37-year-old has guided the club to the top six of the Championship as he hopes to guide them to the top tier of English football for the first time in 12 years.

During that time his former club have struggled in England’s top flight as they have now sacked their second manager of the season while sitting in the relegation zone.

Former Stoke man Higginbotham posted this message about Monk after the sacking of Bradley as posted on his personal Twitter account.

Bedford-born Monk played 251 games for the Swans as a centre-back, scoring two goals, before taking over as manager.

The highly-rated coach has won 13 of his 23 Championship games this season, as they are currently eight points behind the automatic places.

During this season Monk has guided Leeds to wins against Norwich, Reading, Huddersfield and Sheffield Wednesday.

They beat Preston North End 4-1 on Boxing Day to secure their third consecutive victory.

The Yorkshire club will travel to the Midlands on Thursday evening to take on Steve Bruce’s Aston Villa, after inflicting a 2-0 defeat on their promotion rivals in the reverse fixture.
