Danny Higginbotham predicts Crystal Palace v Newcastle
Top football pundit Danny Higginbotham has given his weekend prediction for the Magpies ahead of their trip to the capital to face Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Sunday.
And Higginbotham’s column in The Sun does not bear good news for Newcastle supporters if it rings true because he is predicting a 2-1 win for Roy Hodgson’s side.
Palace are having something of a resurgence lately under the appointment of the former England manager and have shot up the table.
Newcastle meanwhile are heading in the opposite direction – with just one win in the last five league matches, they look to be on a slippery slope.
Higginbotham, who also played for Stoke City believes that it will be the Eagles winger Wilfried Zaha that will be key to Palace’s victory over Rafa Benitez’ side as his full-backs will struggle to contain the Ivory Coast international and leave too much space in behind.
Despite Palace being two points above in the table, they have also conceded three more goals than the north-east giants and as they are both on the same goals scored a win for Newcastle would put them back above the London club.
Benitez’s side are desperate for a win as they bid to stave off relegation which could have dramatic ramifications for the club.
