Danny Ings reacts after West Ham message to Jarrod Bowen

West Ham striker Danny Ings has reacted on social media to a milestone achieved by teammate Jarrod Bowen.

The former Burnley striker joined the Hammers in January 2023 for £15million, but the England international has never found the form that made him a one-time Man City target whilst in the East End.

Ings was linked with a return to Southampton in January, but a deal never came to fruition.

West Ham wanted to sell Ings before his contract expires in the summer, and a cut-price offer would have been accepted.

Tammy Abraham was identified as a replacement in the summer of 2024, but the then Roma striker moved across Italy to join AC Milan.

Jarrod Bowen remains the main-man at West Ham after Graham Potter’s arrival

West Ham announced that Bowen had achieved the milestone of 50 Premier League goals, on the club’s official Instagram page.

Ings showed his support for his England teammate by liking the post, with the former Liverpool striker also having reached the milestone in his career.

The winger, famously indoctrinated into East London folklore through his relationship with Dani Dyer, daughter of Danny Dyer, joined the club from Hull City in 2020 for £22million.

Since then, the England international has become the Irons’ key player, and under David Moyes, Bowen scored the winning goal against Fiorentina in the Conference League final.

Following Graham Potter’s appointment, the former Hereford United man has continued to be the Hammers’ star man, and has scored seven goals in a season interrupted by injuries.

Jarrod Bowen unlikely to join Liverpool in spite of being a perfect match

Football Insider Verdict

Bowen has been linked with Liverpool, as they continue to find themselves stuck in an odd stasis of waiting for Mohamed Salah’s final verdict on renewing his contract.

It would seem like a match made in heaven, the winger has all the attributes to replace, or act as understudy, or feature alongside the Egyptian.

Bowen has shown his ability to play up-front this season, whilst there is no doubt he would seamlessly slot in behind a striker in Arne Slot’s system.

However, the former Hull City man is adored at the London Stadium, his winner against Fiorentina wrote him into West Ham folklore alongside Bobby Moore, Billy Bonds and Mark Noble.

If Bowen were ever to move, it likely would have happened by now, he has undoubtedly had many opportunities to do so, but feeling special is a hard thing to find for many players, and the Hammers treat their winger like a king.
