Leeds United are unlikely to green light any other big name exits after Jack Clarke unless a club offer “silly money” this summer, according to Danny Mills.
The former Elland Road and England star, speaking in an exclusive interview with Football Insider, says that he believes Clarke’s impending move to Tottenham will be the one and only notable departure before the start of the season.
Football Insider have revealed that Clarke’s departure from Leeds to Tottenham will be confirmed next week, the player having agreed a £20,000-a-week contract in what will be a deal worth up to £12million for the Whites.
With a number of Leeds’ stars linked with moves away this summer, Mills says that the 18-year-old’s exit should be enough to ensure the likes of Kalvin Phillips and Jamie Shackleton stay, although warned that a big-money deal could still tempt Leeds into selling.
Asked if Leeds would be facing any more exits after Clarke, he told Football Insider: “I don’t think so, by the looks of it, that looks like that will be it if they choose to, unless there is silly money that comes in for somebody.
“Allowing Jack Clarke to go means you can keep the likes of Kalvin Phillips, you can keep (Jamie Shackleton) and actually does that fit better in the grand scheme of things? It’s probably Bielsa’s one final go to get back into the Premier League.”
Clarke made 25 appearances for Leeds in what was his breakthrough season in professional football, only four of those coming in among the starting XI in the Championship.
His move to Tottenham will be the north Londoners’ first signing since Lucas Moura joined from PSG back in January 2018.
In other Leeds United news, it can be REVEALED that a club have opened talks to sign two players from Elland Road this summer.
