Danny Rohl will find it a little bit too much for Rangers in title race – Ex-Aberdeen chief

Rangers manager Danny Rohl doesn’t have what it takes to win the Scottish Premiership title race.

That is according to ex-Aberdeen, Aston Villa, and Everton chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who thinks Martin O’Neill’s experience will win Celtic the title.

Hearts currently lead the Scottish Premiership table by two points, but Derek McInnes’ side’s defeat to Kilmarnock last time out could prove costly.

Celtic and Rangers both capitalised on Hearts’ defeat with victories, and all three teams will face each other again before the season concludes in May.

O’Neill has lost just once in the league since returning to the club, with Celtic looking to secure a fifth successive Scottish Premiership title this season.

Martin O’Neill has been ‘lucky’ at Celtic

Aberdeen’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Pittodrie between 2000 and 2004, had lengthy spells as the chief of Everton and Aston Villa and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – thinks the pressure could get to Hearts in the title race.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness believes Danny Rohl’s inexperience at Rangers could prove to be his downfall.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Well, just looking at the numbers, I think it’s nearly 30 years since we had three teams within three points of each other at this time of the season.

“Yes, everybody’s actually watching Scottish results for a change. And it is quite exciting. Will Hearts hang on? My money at the moment, if I was to be a betting man, I’d be putting my money on Martin O’Neill, bringing Celtic through.

“I think that they will do it, thanks to Martin’s experience. I think while Derek McInnes has obviously got some good experience of Scotland as well, I think it’s going to just be a little bit too much pressure on Hearts and I think Danny Rohl will also find it a little bit too much for Rangers.

“I think St Martin has been blessed at the moment. I think he’s been so lucky and the luck of the Irish with St Patrick’s Day.”

Claudio Braga price tag revealed

Sources have told Football Insider that Celtic would have to pay £5million to sign Hearts forward Claudio Braga this summer.

Braga has been a key players in Hearts’ title charge during his first season at the club, with the 26-year-old having netted 12 times in the league this campaign.

Hearts have no plans to sell Braga, and he is happy at Tynecastle, but Celtic will look to add to their attacking options in the transfer market.
