Dave Edwards delivers Twitter message ahead of Wolves clash v Wigan
By Danny Wright
Dave Edwards has taken to Twitter to say he is focused on Wolves’ Tuesday night Championship showdown against Wigan.
The 31-year-old will be hoping his side can get back to winning ways following back-to-back defeats to Burton Albion and top-of-the-league Newcastle.
In the defeat to Burton, Edwards captained the side after putting in a performance of the season against Barnsley the week before as he scored twice and set up another in a 3-1 win at Oakwell.
Speaking on his personal Twitter page, Edwards said: “All focused and ready for a huge Wolves game tonight!”
Wolves aren’t a million miles away from the relegation zone and Tuesday’s game could be a massive opportunity for them to move themselves closer towards safety.
Wigan are five points away from safety in the bottom three, but a win for the Latics could see them move six points behind Paul Lambert’s side.
Edwards will be hoping to help the Black Country club and add to his decent goal-scoring record for the season.
No other members of the squad have more goals in the Championship than the Welshman who has scored on nine occasions this season.
£13million signing Helder Costa is the only player to have scored more than him in all competitions with 10 in total.
Having moved to Molineux in 2008 from Luton, Edwards is the second-longest-serving member of the current squad after Carl Ikeme.
The midfielder has made a total of 287 appearances for the club in nine years.
