David Prutton predicts Leeds v Birmingham, backs 25-year-old to fire
By Dominic Toner
David Prutton has backed Leeds to strengthen their grip on a play-off position by overcoming Birmingham on Friday night and feels Chris Wood will continue his fine form in front of goal.
The Whites travel to St Andrews for a Championship clash and will be in good spirits after a 1-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday in their last game, with 25-year-old Wood scoring the winning goal.
The Yorkshire club are currently fourth-placed in the league table and 10 points adrift of the automatic spots.
Garry Monk’s side will be more focused on staying in the play-off spots and will be wary of seventh-placed Fulham, who are eight points behind them and with a game in hand.
Meanwhile, Birmingham are mid-table in the league and have fallen away from the promotion picture since sacking Gary Rowett.

However, current boss Gianfranco Zola picked up his first away win in their last game against Midlands rivals Wolves.
Sky Sports pundit Prutton believes that Leeds will record a 2-0 win away at Birmingham and has tipped Wood to continue his remarkable goal scoring form.
“It looks suspiciously like an away win for me,” Prutton told Sky Sports. “Leeds were very good at Sheffield Wednesday last week and they’ve got to be looking for a win here to consolidate their place in the top six.
“Birmingham were solid against Wolves and Gianfranco Zola finally got a win, but fundamentally this league is all about winning regularly and that’s what he’s struggled to do.”
The Whites look in a great position to finish in the top six and to experience the high drama of the play-offs.
Monk has surpassed pre-season expectations and managed to turn his side into one of the best in the division.
Leeds forward Wood has been at the heart of their success and managed 23 goals in 37 appearances across all competitions.
He is the joint-top scorer in the Championship this season with 20 league goals alongside Newcastle Dwight Gayle and has thrived on being the main man at Elland Road.
