Rangers deal is done and dusted, moaning over minor details is waste of time
Rangers finally got a deal to sign Brighton winger Jamie Murphy over the line when the 28-year-old signed a season-long loan deal.
Despite Murphy now being a Rangers player – and agreeing a permanent deal in the summer – some fans are still unhappy.
Whether it’s the length of time taken to finalise the move, that it’s a loan instead of a permanent deal or the time of day it was confirmed, it seems there’s no pleasing everybody.
The addition of a quality player who will undoubtedly improve the Gers between now and the end of the season should be the main focus for fans instead of the minutiae of the agreement between Rangers and Brighton.
If the winger can help Graeme Murty close the gap on Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic and secure second in the table – as well as a good run in the Scottish Cup – it shouldn’t make any difference that the Gers confirmed the signing of Murphy at twenty to one in the morning or that he’s on an initial loan deal.
The boyhood Rangers fan is a definite upgrade on what is currently available to Murty and is the type of signing the Gers fans have been crying out for in recent years.
With a lot of football still to be played this season, there could still be plenty of twists to come before now and June and none of it will be affected by the fact Murphy is on loan instead of a permanent deal or because the Ibrox side announced his signing when most fans would have been in bed – or the pub.
In latest Rangers news, Gers fans have blasted the Ibrox board for their handling of Murphy’s transfer.
