Declan Rice and Asensio react to Morgan Rogers’ heartfelt message to Aston Villa fans

Morgan Rogers directed a message to the Aston Villa supporters as the Premier League season came to a close.

The forward has been one of the league’s standout performers, playing a pivotal role in Unai Emery’s side throughout an impressive campaign.

However, Aston Villa’s push for Champions League football fell short on the final day, as they suffered a contentious 2-0 defeat to Manchester United.

The controversy centred on an incident that unfolded before goals from Amad and Christian Eriksen. Referee Thomas Bramall blew for a foul on goalkeeper Altay Bayindir just as Rogers dispossessed him and put the ball into an empty net.

Because the whistle had already gone, VAR could not intervene. Former PGMOL chief Keith Hackett criticised Bramall’s decision and told Football Insider a more senior referee should’ve been appointed, while Richard Keys backed Aston Villa to take legal action against the Premier League.

Despite the frustration, Rogers chose to focus on the positives in his end-of-season message, thanking supporters for their backing for the campaign.

The Englishman shared a message with supporters following the final game of the season, despite the controversy that surrounded it. He wrote on Instagram: “Thanks for all the love and support. Helluva year.”

The post drew reactions from across the football world, with Arsenal’s Declan Rice and Tottenham’s Dominic Solanke among those liking it. Teammates also responded, including Tyrone Mings who simply wrote: “Duo” while loanee Marco Asensio showed his support with a like.

Rogers has enjoyed a breakout season at Villa Park, establishing himself as one of the Premier League’s top attacking threats. The 22-year-old has registered a remarkable 29 goal contributions across all competitions, playing a key role in Villa’s European qualification.

However, his performances have attracted significant attention. Football Insider revealed that Man City are keeping a close eye on Rogers, though Villa are reluctant to sanction a sale for one of their key players.

While the club are likely to reject any approach for Rogers this summer, Villa may be more open to parting with another key forward.

Football Insider revealed that Aston Villa are prepared to listen to offers for Ollie Watkins this summer, especially after falling short of Champions League qualification.

A major sale could help the club avoid breaching Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), and with Watkins’ future uncertain, this summer could be the ideal time to cash in on the England international.
