Declan Rice and Hudson-Odoi react to Chelsea star’s message after his Bentancur bust-up

Trevoh Chalobah took to social media with a fighting message after Chelsea defeated Tottenham at Stamford Bridge.

Enzo Fernandez scored the only goal as emotions ran high on Thursday, 3 April, with Tottenham fans continuing to criticise and hammer Ange Postecoglou in the opposition dugout.

Pape Sarr had scored a dramatic equaliser, having controversially replaced Lucas Bergvall after 64 minutes, only for his effort to be ruled out by VAR for a foul on Moises Caicedo.

Several stars picked up cautions on the night, leaving referee Craig Pawson with plenty of incidents to unravel, and Chalobah picked up his yellow card for a furious argument with Rodrigo Bentancur.

Cristian Romero had started the original brawl by shoving Levi Colwill, and after a few minutes of shouting, barging and some whistle-blowing from the referee, the crowd finally dispersed.

Taking to Instagram [3 April], Chalobah simply wrote: “Blue blood,” with a blue heart emoji, showing the love he still holds for the club despite being exiled from the squad in the summer.

Enzo Fernandez responded to the post with a “top” emoji, with the likes of Jeremy Doku, Declan Rice, Adam Wharton and Callum Hudson-Odoi all liking the player’s post.

Enzo Maresca finally gets wheels turning again at Stamford Bridge

Football Insider verdict

Enzo Maresca was under immense pressure at Chelsea just a few weeks ago, but having now won five of their last six games across all competitions, fans are starting to change their minds on the manager.

The Europa Conference League title is likely heading to Stamford Bridge this season, but even better for the Blues, Champions League qualification looks to be back on the cards as the form returns.

Enzo Maresca looks set to bring Champions League football back to Chelsea.

Cole Palmer looked back to his best for Chelsea, notching his first goal contribution in 11 games across all competitions, lifting a clever cross into the box for Fernandez to bury with a header.

Chalobah’s fight, determination and emotion on the pitch are exactly what Maresca needs from his team during the end-of-season run-in, especially if Champions League football is to come back to Stamford Bridge.

Thanks to the under-pressure manager turning his team’s form around, that now feels like a distinct possibility for the first time in two years.
