Declan Rice and Jesse Lingard react to Tomas Soucek’s emotional West Ham message

Tomas Soucek took to social media with a new message following his standout performance as West Ham beat Man United 2-0.

It was the Hammers’ first league victory at Old Trafford since 2007 as Graham Potter‘s side claimed their first win in nine games to climb up to 15th in the Premier League table on Sunday, 11 May.

Soucek, who has been heavily linked with Everton this summer, opened the scoring after 26 minutes, sweeping home Mohammed Kudus’ cross into the six-yard box.

The Red Devils were pushing for an equaliser when the Irons’ biggest star, Jarrod Bowen, fired home a second to double the lead just shy of the hour mark and seal all three points away from home.

Clearly an emotional day for one player, Soucek sent a message to the new member of his growing family on the pitch and was excited to share that same message with the world after the game.

Tomas Soucek celebrates more than football after Man United win

Taking to Instagram (11 May), Soucek wrote: “Welcome to our football family, Daniel,” alongside images of his goal celebration in homage to his newborn son.

As well as gaining the attention of Lucas Paqueta, Max Kilman, and Emerson Palmieri, former teammates Pablo Fornals, Jesse Lingard, and Declan Rice all liked the post.

Graham Potter desperate for summer rebuild at West Ham

Football Insider verdict

Despite clearly loving his time at the London Stadium and sharing a nice relationship with the supporters, Soucek could be one of the first names out of the door this summer.

Lukasz Fabianski, Aaron Cresswell, and Vladimir Coufal’s exits have all been confirmed ahead of the end of the season, and they are unlikely to be the last members of the current squad to leave.

Bowen has also been linked with a shock West Ham exit, but if Potter is to rebuild this team and push them up the league table, it will be vital to keep the star forward at the club this summer.

Understandably, supporters are already frustrated with the new head coach, but given the limited time he has been afforded so far and no transfer window, it is unfair to decide on him just yet.

The 49-year-old’s achievements with Brighton speak for themselves, and while his time with Chelsea was cut short, he could have pushed the Blues forward had he been given more time to prove himself.

He can do exactly the same at the London Stadium if David Sullivan remains patient, but with fans making their feelings well known about the current campaign, he is living right on the edge of being sacked.
