Declan Rice and Smith Rowe respond to Eddie Nketiah’s Crystal Palace message

Eddie Nketiah was upbeat after Crystal Palace continued their momentum from the FA Cup final win into the Premier League with another impressive display.

There was no sign of a post-trophy hangover as Crystal Palace edged past Wolves in a 4-2 thriller at Selhurst Park, just days after lifting the FA Cup for the first time in the club’s history.

Manager Oliver Glasner was expected to rotate his Crystal Palace side following the weekend’s triumph and made six changes to the starting XI. Nketiah, Ben Chilwell and Joel Ward were among those brought in as the reshuffle paid off.

Nketiah made the most of a rare Premier League start, bagging an early brace to put Palace in control. Chilwell also got on the scoresheet, while Eberechi Eze capped off the scoring in another standout display.

The striker, who hasn’t featured regularly in the league this season, seized his opportunity and had a message for supporters after the final whistle.

Premier League stars and former Arsenal teammates react to Eddie Nketiah’s display

The 25-year-old was full of emotion as he shared a message with fans on Instagram, writing: “Signing out in style! John 13:7”.

A number of players reacted to the post, including several of Nketiah’s former Arsenal teammates. Declan Rice and William Saliba both liked the post, while Emile Smith Rowe commented: “Shock”.

His teammates joined in too, with Jean-Philippe Mateta dropping phone and fire emojis, and fellow goalscorer Chilwell replying: “My boy”.

Nketiah has had a challenging season at Crystal Palace, with fierce competition for places. Mateta has been in superb form, making it difficult for the former Arsenal player to secure consistent minutes.

Since making his £30 million switch last summer, he has started just nine times in the Premier League, scoring seven goals and providing three assists across all competitions.

Crystal Palace eye Jamie Vardy as summer rebuild begins

With the season drawing to a close this weekend, the Eagles are already setting their sights on summer reinforcements as Football Insider revealed that Crystal Palace have joined the race to sign Leicester City legend Jamie Vardy.

Vardy confirmed last month that he will leave Leicester, ending a remarkable 13-year spell with the Foxes.

With Europa League football secured for next season, Palace are expected to strengthen their squad and Vardy’s experience at the top level could prove invaluable with a potential move to bring the Premier League icon to Selhurst Park now being explored.
