Declan Rice and Tielemans react to Ezri Konsa’s passionate Aston Villa message

Ezri Konsa had a message for the Aston Villa supporters after a frustrating end to their Premier League campaign.

The centre-back has been a key figure in Unai Emery’s defence throughout the season, playing a crucial role in Villa’s push for Champions League finish.

However, Aston Villa ultimately missed out on a top-five place, losing out on goal difference in agonising fashion to Newcastle.

Villa’s 2-0 defeat to Manchester United on the final day was clouded in controversy, with Thomas Bramall ruling out Morgan Rogers’ goal for an alleged foul on Altay Bayindir — a decision that left players and fans furious.

Still, Konsa remained reflective and composed in his post-season message, thanking the fans for their unwavering support throughout a hard-fought campaign.

The English defender shared a message for the fans on Instagram following the end of the season, writing: “A season we came so close. Fighting on all fronts to make history for this club and push it to where it belongs. Thank you for the incredible support throughout, Europe again next season as we go for more.”

His post received a wave of support, with Rogers commenting: “My broksi” and Amadou Onana adding: “Robinho.” Declan Rice, Kieran Trippier, and Youri Tielemans also showed their appreciation by liking the message.

Despite the strong sense of unity in the squad, Konsa’s performances this season haven’t gone unnoticed elsewhere.

Former Aston Villa scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Chelsea are interested in bringing Konsa to Stamford Bridge, with new head coach Enzo Maresca looking to bolster his defence.

Brown added that Chelsea have been keeping tabs on the defender for some time and now believe he could play a key role in a backline shake-up.

Amid the growing interest, their financial situation may also play a part. Former Manchester City financial advisor Stefan Borson told Football Insider that Aston Villa could be forced to sell key players to remain within Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), making Konsa a potential sale.

Should Villa decide to balance the books, Jacob Ramsey is another player who could make way this summer.

Ramsey has long been admired by both Arsenal and Tottenham, and reports suggest either club could make a move if Villa open the door to a sale.

Valued at around £50 million, Ramsey would represent pure profit for the club due to his academy background — a factor that may make a departure more likely if financial pressure mounts.

If both Konsa and Ramsey are moved on, it could mark a difficult but necessary reset at Villa Park ahead of another European campaign.
