Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka react to Gabriel’s Arsenal hint ahead of Southampton

Gabriel Magalhaes seems to have dropped a massive fitness hint ahead of Arsenal’s final-day clash with Southampton.

The 27-year-old defender has been sidelined since the beginning of April with a hamstring injury, leaving William Saliba and Jakub Kiwior to make up the central defence ever since.

While the Gunners bypassed Real Madrid in the Champions League without the Brazilian’s presence, it was not so easy in the semi-finals against PSG, losing 3-1 on aggregate across two legs.

With just one game of the Premier League campaign remaining, it could be time for the centre-back to make a dramatic return to the pitch, or he could just be promising more ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

Taking to Instagram (24 May), Gabriel wrote: “God is great! There is still more to come! See you all soon,” fielding likes from multiple teammates, including Leandro Trossard, Declan Rice, and Bukayo Saka.

Rival stars, such as Wolves’ exit-linked superstar Matheus Cunha, Man City’s Savinho, and Nottingham Forest’s Murillo, also liked the post, with Jurrien Timber responding with loving emojis.

Mikel Arteta must secure silverware next season

Football Insider verdict

Arsenal fans were furious with Mikel Arteta after being knocked out of the Champions League, with the Gunners only winning a single piece of silverware since the Spaniard’s appointment in 2019.

That turned out to be the FA Cup in the 2019/20 season, leaving frustrated supporters wanting more, and that finally looked possible halfway through the current campaign, only to be left with nothing.

Martin Odegaard has also been slammed by the Arsenal faithful, suggesting that the team require a new captain moving forward, and those voices may only get louder after their final Premier League fixture.

Southampton should be a simple last game for Arteta’s side, but should they lose and Man City beat Fulham quite convincingly, their spots in the table all come down to goal difference.

Of course, the sides are separated by three points and eight goals, which would be an incredible turn of events should Pep Guardiola‘s side finish second in a horrendous season, but it might be the final nail in the manager’s coffin.
