Declan Rice, Harry Maguire react to ‘big’ message from Man United ace Mason Mount

Arsenal star Declan Rice and Man United’s Harry Maguire reacted to a message from Mason Mount on social media.

Having switched London for Manchester in 2023, much was expected of the England international at Old Trafford.

However, Mount has instead endured two injury-ridden seasons and has only managed to feature 41 times in all competitions.

The 26-year-old has started just four times in the Premier League this season, and came off the bench in United’s dominant 3-0 win over Athletic Club in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final.

Whilst Mount’s impact was limited, it marked the former Chelsea man’s eighth consecutive appearance off the bench as he looks to become a more permanent fixture in Ruben Amorim’s plans.

Following the comprehensive win in the Basque Country, Mount posted three photos of himself in action, captioned: “Big win in Bilbao”.

The post was then liked by Arsenal‘s midfielder Rice, who spent time with the 26-year-old in Chelsea’s academy, and his teammate Maguire.

United’s second leg fixture will take place on Thursday (8 May) and barring a monumental collapse, they will be heading back to the Estadio San Mames to play in the Europa League final on 21 May.

Mason Mount perfect for Ruben Amorim’s system when fit

Football Insider Verdict

Having made just 27 Premier League appearances in his first two seasons at Old Trafford, it’s fair to say Mount’s United career has not gone to plan so far.

However, all is not lost and if the England international can get back to full fitness, he could be a perfect fit into Amorim’s system.

Mount’s most productive season came under Thomas Tuchel during the 2021/22 season, in which the midfielder scored 11 and assisted 10 in 32 league games.

The England boss’ system was incredibly similar to the one Amorim deploys, with two attacking midfielders behind a lone striker in a 3-4-2-1 formation.

If Mount can regain his fitness, he stands a chance of becoming a major asset to the Portuguese boss in Manchester.
