Declan Rice, James Maddison react to Man United star’s Harry Maguire poignant post
An emotional post by Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has summoned a reaction from his England teammates.
Maguire appeared 40 times for the Red Devils last season as they endured a torrid Premier League campaign.
The 32-year-old has had a rollercoaster six seasons at the club after they paid £80m to Leicester in 2019 to sign him.
Previously club captain, Maguire was stripped of that honour in 2023 under Erik ten Hag, but has since become a key figure in Ruben Amorim’s squad.

Maguire shares personal update
Maguire took to Instagram (June 25) to celebrate the three-year anniversary of him and his wife.
A picture was shared of the couple from their wedding day with the caption: “Three years ago today I married my wife. Happy anniversary, I love you,” accompanied with a red love heart emoji.
The poignant post was liked by Tottenham’s James Maddison and Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice.
Maddison and Maguire were teammates together at Leicester, whilst Rice has played with the defender on international duty at Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup.
Revolutionised Maguire key for Amorim
Football Insider verdict
The change of formation last season to a back three has given Maguire a clear role to play in an Amorim team.
Maguire’s ariel dominance is ideal at the heart of United’s defence and his performances earned him a one year contract extension at the beginning of the year.
In a team lacking of leaders, Maguire has stepped up under Amorim and shown his desire to help the side.

The centre-back has also been deployed at striker on occasions last season highlighting the need for a forward this summer, with Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee both uncapable of leading the line.
Maguire popped up with four goals last campaign, including that dramatic winner against Lyon in the quarter-finals of the Europa League.
United cannot keep relying on Maguire in both penalty areas and Amorim has a massive transfer window on his hands this summer to rejuvenate his squad.
However, United need to sell players before they can buy with Kobbie Mainoo, Tyrell Malacia, Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford among those that the club will listen to offers on this summer.
