Declan Rice reacts to James Maddison message amid Tottenham exit links

James Maddison has attracted the attention of his England teammates on social media as rumours gather regarding his Tottenham Hotspur future.

Maddison signed for Spurs from Leicester City in the summer of 2023 and has since registered 16 goals and 21 assists in 75 appearances across all competitions.

However, the seven-time England international struggled to consistently hold down his place in the team last season, starting just 21 Premier League matches.

It remains to be seen whether or not Maddison will have better luck this season with Thomas Frank coming in to replace Ange Postecoglou in the Spurs dugout.

James Maddison draws attention on social media

Maddison is currently recovering from a knee injury that saw him miss the Europa League final triumph against Manchester United in May.

However, the 28-year-old very much appears to be on the mend after he posted images of himself training at the Tottenham Hotspur facility on Wednesday.

The post has over 30,000 likes at the time of writing, and among them are reactions from Maddison’s England teammates Declan Rice and Ebere Eze.

Ironically, Spurs being heavily linked with Eze has fuelled speculation that Maddison could seek a move away from the club this summer.

For now, it appears Maddison’s sole focus is on getting fit and ready to prove himself to new boss Frank.

When Frank first arrived at Spurs, Sky Sports released a video (June 19) of the Danish manager speaking with Maddison regarding his recovery — suggesting he is very interested in having the playmaker available to him next season.

And following the frustrations he endured at times under Postecoglou, Maddison might well be keen to see how things go under Frank this season.

Frank often played a 4-2-3-1 system during his time with Brentford, meaning there would be space for Maddison to play as a No.10.

What’s more, the impending signing of Mohammed Kudus might serve to cool links to Eze, with the Ghana international an ideal candidate to play out wide in Frank’s system.
