Declan Rice reacts to new Myles Lewis-Skelly contract update at Arsenal

Declan Rice was clearly excited by the latest update emerging on Myles Lewis-Skelly’s contract situation at Arsenal this summer.

The 18-year-old shot to stardom in Mikel Arteta’s side during the 2024/25 season, making 39 appearances across all competitions, albeit the Arsenal man was sent off multiple times.

His rise in the first-team squad came at the perfect time with Arsenal’s exit-linked Riccardo Calafiori spending long periods on the sidelines through injury.

However, there have been concerns over the full-back’s future due to the silence emerging from the Emirates Stadium over the last few weeks, but a new update has finally been reported.

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has taken to social media with hugely anticipated news about the young talent, and Rice is one of the first of his teammates to react.

While the manager’s ability to bring youth talents into the senior squad, such as Lewis-Skelly, Ethan Nwaneri, and most recently, Nathan Butler-Oyedeji.

However, supporters are quickly running out of patience with Arteta as the Arsenal manager, having failed to deliver another piece of silverware since lifting the FA Cup in 2019/20.

The Gunners’ main failure to win either the Premier League or Champions League was due to the club’s inability to sign an out-and-out striker last summer, or even during the winter transfer window.

With Andrea Berta now appointed to aid with high-profile transfers, Viktor Gyokeres, Benjamin Sesko, and Ollie Watkins all remain on the radar in North London this summer.

A deal for the Sporting CP star has become far less likely due to his club’s asking price, but it seems that Watkins’ openness to a move has handed Arsenal a much-needed boost.

Signing a sensational centre-forward is likely the last bit of the piece missing from Arteta’s puzzle, but it remains to be seen if the Gunners can splash the cash to fill the void at the Emirates.
