Declan Rice sends message to Jack Grealish after England celebration controversy

Declan Rice has taken to social media to show his support for England teammate Jack Grealish following his celebrations in their 2-0 win over the Republic of Ireland.

Both Rice, 25, and Grealish, 28, scored against the country they had once represented as England secured a comfortable victory in the UEFA Nations League.

Interim manager Lee Carsley, who has 40 caps for the Republic of Ireland, took charge of the first game in the post-Gareth Southgate era.

Rice opened the scoring with a thunderous close-range effort on the 11th minute and decided not to celebrate against the home nation of his grandparents.

Grealish, however, didn’t hold back, running towards the traveling England fans and punching the air after his 26th-minute goal.

Carlsey brought the Man City playmaker back into the fold after missing out on a place in Southgate’s squad for Euro 2024.

Playing in the number ten role, Grealish once again looked like the player that cost the champions £100 million back in 2021.

The attacking midfielder was clearly overjoyed with his performance, taking to Instagram to share his reaction, to which Rice responded.

England next face Finland at Wembley on September 10th in their last game of the early international break as they seek progression from the UEFA Nations League Group B.

After that, the international teammates will return to their respective clubs as Arsenal hope to topple Man City’s four-year monopoly on the Premier League title.
