'Definitely' - Exclusive: Kevin Phillips makes bold Wolves claim

Kevin Phillips has claimed Wolves have got a “fantastic chance” of winning the Europa League this season after they qualified for the last 16 of the competition.

The former Sunderland and West Brom striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, insisted the Wanderers are “a match for anyone” who is left in the European competition.

Goals from Adama Traore and Matt Doherty were not enough for the Premier League side as they lost 3-2 away to Espanyol.

However, the result was enough to progress to the last 16 thanks to a 4-0 victory at Molineux in the first leg of the tie.

When asked for his assessment of the Wanderers’ chances of winning the competition, Phillips told Football Insider“They have got a fantastic chance.

“Over two legs they are capable of beating anyone. We have seen it in the Premier League this year. When they have played the big teams they have always given them a tough game.

“Any team coming to Molineux now – the atmosphere, the way they play, the goals they score they are a match for anyone.

“I am sure, with relegation not an issue, Nuno will go full-strength when those ties come around.

“The Europa League for them would be fantastic. Why would you not want to go for that when you started that early, to get this far, you are not going to chuck it. They have certainly got every opportunity of going all the way. Definitely.”

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side will face Olympiacos for a place in the quarter-finals with the first leg to be played in Greece.

Victory over Spurs on Sunday saw the Wanderers move up to sixth in the Premier League. Goals from Matt Doherty, Diogo Jota and Raul Jimenez enough for all three points at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

In other Wolves news, Paul Robinson has told Football Insider if would be “frightening” if reported target joins Molineux.
