Dembele delivers verdict on Tottenham v Chelsea, comments on league impact
By Dominic Toner
Mousa Dembele believes that Tottenham’s cup match against Chelsea will not be influenced by their positions in the Premier League.
Spurs face Chelsea on Saturday in the FA Cup semi-finals and will be looking to move a step closer to their first piece of silverware since 2008.
The two London rivals are in direct competition from the Premier League title this campaign, with the Blues currently four points adrift at the top of the table.
However, Mauricio Pochettino’s side have won their last seven consecutive league games and managed to put some serious pressure on.
Dembele feels that the cup showdown has nothing to do with their league battle and that there will be no psychological advantages for either side.

“They respect us, know it’s not going to be easy for them and the same the other way around,” Dembele said, as quoted by BBC Sport. “It’s a game on its own and for me personally it (league form) has nothing to do with it (the cup game).”
Dembele is likely to be involved from the start against Chelsea and has become an important member in the starting line-up.
The central midfielder will need to be at his best to contend with the opponent’s star man N’Golo Kante, who is on the six-man shortlist for the PFA Player of the Year.
Spurs midfielder Dembele and Victor Wanyama managed to get the better of the Blues in the previous meeting, something they will be striving for again at Wembley.
Dembele is recognised as as a powerful midfielder and he delivered a man-of-the-match performance in the club’s last game against Bournemouth.
