Blistering form of Celtic player is great, but Rodgers must be wary of vultures
Moussa Dembele is set to a key man for Celtic in their Champions League clash against Anderlecht on Tuesday night – but there is something quite bittersweet about that.
The 21-year-old French striker has been a massive success since signing for the Hoops, with 32 goals last season and has continued his blistering form with seven this season despite his campaign which being blighted with injuries.
The one caveat to Dembele’s success for the Bhoys is that it strengthens his chances of leaving Glasgow at the end of the season.
The player was already widely reported to have had admirers in England after his three goals in the Champions League last season, particularly the two goals scored against Manchester City.
Even more clubs would have no doubt taken note when Dembele opened the scoring with a fine goal against PSG in this season’s Champions League, the first goal the French league leaders have conceded in the contest in the long run.

Brendan Rodgers must be wary of more vultures circling around Dembele, who could attract even more attention if he finds the target against Anderlecht on Tuesday to book the Bhoys’ spot in the Europa League knock-out rounds.
In the short term Dembele’s success can only be a good thing for the Celts, as they look to progress in Europe and retain their domestic treble won last year, not to mention the 67 match British unbeaten domestic record.
Longer term though, perhaps even as earlier as this summer, the Frenchman’s future looks like it will be spent in the English Premier League. Enjoy Dembele while you can Celtic fans, would be Football Insider‘s view.
