Graeme Murty has revealed that his Rangers team can’t wait to play in their upcoming Florida Cup matches.
The Light Blues are set to play friendly matches against Atletico Miniero on Thursday and Corinthians on Saturday in Florida before returning to Glasgow.
Murty has said that the performance in the goal less draw against Celtic in the last match before the winter break has given his players huge belief.
“They are desperate for the game, all footballers are. They just want to play” he said, as quoted by Rangers’ official website.
Murty’s side has done well in games they have been perhaps expected to lose this season – the visit to Celtic Park and the double-header against Aberdeen – and he wants to see this kind of attitude in the Florida Cup games.
“They want to get on the football pitch and test themselves, and I think seeing the big games this year, the games where there character has been challenged or questions have been asked at Celtic and at Pittodrie, these kind of games, the guys really relish that.”
The Gers go into the matches with new signings Jamie Murphy and Sean Goss in the squad, and both may make their debuts against Atletico Miniero.
When Rangers return to Scotland their first match is a Scottish Cup tie against non-league Fraserburgh, which is quickly followed by a match at Ibrox against Aberdeen, which could be pivotal in the battle for second place in the Scottish Premiership.
The Light Blues currently trail the Dons by three points in the fight for second, but have defeated them twice already this season.
In other Rangers news, Graeme Murty believes that the new signings are settling in well
