Diogo Jota: Campbell fumes as Liverpool controversy analysed - 'it's not right'
Kevin Campbell has suggested there is bias in the Premier League after Newcastle’s Joelinton was penalised for a challenge on Liverpool forward Diogo Jota.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker claimed “certain teams get the decision and certain teams don’t” after the incident at St. James’ Park.
Liverpool maintained their title push with a 1-0 win over Newcastle United on Sunday.
In the second half Jota won a free-kick in a dangerous position after minimal contact from Joelinton.
Campbell compared the incident to the penalty shout that went against Everton winger Anthony Gordon in the Merseyside derby.
“There are players who dive and nothing is said,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.

“But with Anthony Gordon, he has all of a sudden got labelled a diver. There was a lot of contact in the second incident against Liverpool.
“There is no consistency. Certain teams get the decision and certain teams don’t. It is that simple I’m afraid.
“We can pretend it’s not happening but it is. Certain teams get the breaks. It is not right.
“But it is not just the referees, it is not just VAR, it is the whole system. It is not fit for purpose right now.”
Jota has contributed 21 goals and six assists in 49 appearances across all competitions in the 2021-22 campaign.
Jurgen Klopp’s side welcome Tottenham to Anfield on Saturday.
