'Disgusting' - Tony Bellew slams Liverpool fans in furious Twitter rant

Everton-mad boxer Tony Bellew has slammed Liverpool fans for smashing up the Manchester City team bus at Anfield earlier this month in the wake of more trouble on Merseyside on Tuesday night.

One fan was hopsitalised after an altercation with Roma fans prior to Jurgen Klopp’s side hammering the Italians 5-2 in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final.

BBC News claims that Liverpool fan Sean Cox, of the Republic of Ireland, is in a critical condition in hospital while two Roma fans were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

There were several other skirmishes outside Anfield and Liverpool-born boxer Bellew has taken to Twitter to rant about the behaviour of fans and suggested that Liverpudlians receive way more criticism than anyone else for football trouble.

“Them two scumbag Roma fans who have stabbed that man need making an example of! Everyone went crazy at scousers when they threw a few cans at a bus but no one is saying anything when a Scouser is lying in a hospital bed in a critical condition over a game of football,” he said on his personal Twitter account.

“Ok so the man’s an Irishman! Does that make a difference? He’s gone to watch a game of football and he’s lying in a bed in a critical condition! Some idiots on here.. as for what Liverpool done to the coach it was disgusting and I don’t condone it but this is another level!”

Hopefully these scenes are not repeated in Rome when Liverpool travel to Italy for the second leg next week because there’s no way that people should be turning up to football games with the fear of ending up in hospital fighting for their lives. Everyone will be praying that Sean Cox makes a full recovery and will be able to cheer on his team when they go to the Italian capital in a bid to reach the Champions League final. Bayern Munich or Real Madrid will pose a massive threat to the Reds, but given the form of Mohamed Salah, it seems that Liverpool can beat just about everyone at the moment – except West Brom.

In other Liverpool news, the Reds are working on two midfield goal machine deals with one on the verge of an agreement.
