Djed Spence and Dominic Solanke react to Kevin Danso’s Tottenham confession
Kevin Danso made sure to address Tottenham fans following the team’s disappointing defeat to AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League.
Tottenham fell short in the first leg of their Round of 16 tie against AZ Alkmaar, with Lucas Bergvall’s unfortunate own goal handing the Dutch side a crucial advantage heading into the second leg.
It was a night to forget for several Tottenham players with Dominic Solanke picking up an injury. Former Spurs midfielder Jamie O’Hara was particularly vocal, singling out the forward and James Maddison in the game.
However, Danso stood out with a commanding performance for Tottenham at the back, despite the team’s struggles. With the second leg set for 13 March, Spurs now face the challenge of overturning a one-goal deficit to keep their European hopes alive.
Still, the loanee took the time to send a message to the fans as the squad shifts focus to their upcoming Premier League fixture against Bournemouth.
Tottenham’s next three fixtures | Date | Competition |
Tottenham vs Bournemouth | 9 March | Premier League |
Tottenham vs AZ Alkmaar | 13 March | Europa League |
Fulham vs Tottenham | 16 March | Premier League |
Kevin Danso focused on next match after Tottenham’s Europa League setback
Danso shared several photos from the match on Instagram, accompanied by a determined message: “Not at our best tonight. We will work hard to fight back on Sunday and correct this next week. Thanks to the travelling fans for their continuous support.”
His teammates, including Djed Spence and Solanke, showed their support by liking the post, acknowledging the defender’s commitment to turning things around.
Since arriving on loan from French side Lens in January, he has quickly established himself as a key figure in Ange Postecoglou’s side, stepping up in the absence of injured defenders like Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, and Radu Dragusin.
While Danso endured a difficult Tottenham debut against Liverpool, the Austrian has since grown into his role, making six appearances and starting in every match he has played for Spurs.
Ange Postecoglou under increasing sack threat amid ongoing trophy drought

Postecoglou’s future at Tottenham has been questioned at various points this season, with speculation intensifying and a sacking looking almost inevitable at times. However, recent victories over Man United and Ipswich Town helped ease the pressure before a setback against Man City.
The Spurs hierarchy has continued to back the Australian, recognising the challenges posed by an ongoing injury crisis.
But with the club already eliminated from the FA Cup by Aston Villa and falling short in the Carabao Cup semi-finals against Liverpool, the Europa League now represents their last chance to end a 17-year wait for silverware.
Postecoglou has insisted that success always comes in his second season, but failure to deliver a trophy this year will only see the pressure on him grow.
