Dom Solanke reacts to Djed Spence message amid Tottenham uncertainty

Tottenham defender Djed Spence has sent out a ‘unforgettable memories’ message amid Spurs’ pursuit of Kyle Walker-Peters.

In a Football Insider exclusive it was revealed Spurs would make Walker-Peters a contract offer following his exit from Southampton.

The 28-year-old was previously at Spurs before moving to Saints in 2020 and his move back to North London could threaten Spence’s place in the team.

Following numerous loan spells, Spence became a regular in the side last season due to Spurs’ lengthy injury list.

Highlights reel liked by Spurs team mate

Spence took to Instagram (7 July) to post a highlights reel from the 2024/25 campaign.

The 24-year-old captioned the post: “Unforgettable memories,” which was liked by his team mate Dominic Solanke.

Solanke joined Spurs last summer from Bournemouth in a £65million deal, but injuries disrupted his first season at the club.

The striker failed to reach double figures in the Premier League scoring just nine goals in 27 appearances.

Football Insider Verdict

In a season to forget for Southampton, Walker-Peters was a rare bright spark, with his consistently good performances.

Walker-Peters has benefited from regular playing time at St Mary’s since leaving Spurs, where he only made 24 senior appearances.

As a free agent, it makes sense for Thomas Frank to add depth to his full-back options with a cheap acquisition.

Spence will face further competition and the defender did benefit from injuries last season to break into the starting line-up.

His displays though warranted game time, although Ange Postecoglou started Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie over him in the Europa League final.

Frank is keen to strengthen his Spurs squad, but is focusing primarily on attacking targets so far.

The Dane would benefit from an injury-free Solanke next season, as he showed in flashes that his strength and movement can be a handful for defences.

His form at Bournemouth, where he scored 19 goals in a Premier League season, shows the ruthlessness he could bring to Spurs.

More goals and creativity are required from elsewhere, hence why Frank is keen to bring in Mohamed Kudus from West Ham or even Crystal Palace ace Eberechi Eze.

Contributors Son Heung-min and Richarlison could also depart this summer, so Frank needs to sort out there futures at the club.
