Dominic Calvert-Lewin: 'Massive' Arsenal claim issued after source's Everton transfer reveal - expert
Alex McLeish has suggested Dominic Calvert-Lewin could take his game to a new level by leaving Everton for Arsenal this summer.
The former Scotland manager, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the “massive” changes underseen by Mikel Arteta could unlock the 25-year-old’s full potential.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider (27 April) that Calvert-Lewin is likely to leave Goodison Park this summer and would prefer a move to Arsenal.
As detailed by this site last month (30 March), the Gunners are in the market for a new centre-forward under the age of 25.
McLeish suggested Calvert-Lewin could explode at the Emirates Stadium after Mikel Arteta’s “massive” transformation of the squad.
McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “Listen, we’ve seen some good things from him in the past. The question is why has he not consistently done it for Everton?

“Is it because Everton are not as good an all-round team as Arsenal? You have to debate these things. Everton’s position in the league tells you that they have struggled.
“They have struggled to get the right service to the front men. The way they played the game at the weekend, I know it was against the mighty Liverpool, but I thought at times they were fairly enterprising.
“It may not have been a game that suited Calvert-Lewin. If Everton were in the ascendancy every week, then Calvert-Lewin may fit into their system better
“It’s a shame that they can’t hold on to somebody who’s showed so much promise. It hasn’t kind of evolved.
“Arsenal are a vibrant young side. You can see the energy in the young players. They have some sticky moments and they’re going to go up and down a wee bit.
“But to get to where they are just now, with the massive change in the squad, good credit to Arteta.”
