Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s heroics vs Brighton can’t distract Leeds United, transfer priority is clear
Daniel Farke has already sent his message to the Leeds United hierarchy ahead of the summer, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin should be listening.
The manager has already laid out his demands for the upcoming transfer window, with some supporters believing he could threaten to walk away if he is not backed with new and exciting signings.
Calvert-Lewin notched his 14th goal of the Premier League season on Sunday, 17 May, latching onto a mistake at the back from Jan Paul van Hecke in the sixth minute of added time.
While it may have been another narrow victory at Elland Road for the Whites, Leeds’ transfer needs were there for all to see during a frustrating 90 minutes against the Seagulls.

It was a third consecutive game with a goal for Leeds’ No.9, having also netted against Tottenham and Burnley, but his struggles have only been papered over by these recent efforts.
At the turn of the year, the 29-year-old went through a period of scoring just once in 10 matches across all competitions. And when he’s low on confidence in front of goal, it shows in his general play.
It was a frustrating 90 minutes for the former Everton man, at least until his buzzer-beating winner in the 96th minute. The Whites never looked likely to score without Van Hecke’s calamitous mistake.

Noah Okafor, Gabriel Gudmundsson and Jayden Bogle were all big misses, especially in the final third. Even Lukas Nmecha didn’t have much impact. It is clear what Farke wants this summer.
Striker links are already emerging at Elland Road
Getting in new strikers was vital last summer, and 49ers Enterprises delivered that for Farke, bringing in Calvert-Lewin on a free transfer, Nmecha on a free transfer, and splashing £17million on Okafor.
The trio have served the Whites well, but it is clear that the team still requires more firepower through the middle, and links to some big-name strikers are already emerging ahead of this summer.
Football Insider understands that Leeds are on red alert for Zian Flemming. Despite Burnley’s relegation from the Premier League, the 27-year-old hit 10 league goals at Turf Moor.
Joel Piroe’s leaving Elland Road will make a deal even more likely. Wilson Isidor is also a name linked with Elland Road, and Leeds’ scouts will be doing plenty of research before pulling the trigger on a move.
