Dominic Solanke and Cole Palmer react to Morgan Rogers’ Aston Villa announcement

Chelsea midfielder Cole Palmer and Tottenham striker Dominic Solanke have reacted to Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers on social media.

The 22-year-old was signed by Villa from Middlesbrough in 2023, and has blossomed into one of the Premier League’s best attacking midfielders.

Rogers wowed Palmer and Villa fans with a hattrick against Celtic in the Champions League on 29 January.

The England international made his senior debut this year, and has already managed six goals and four assists in the Premier League in 23 matches.

Rogers will have to maintain his form through the rest of the season, as Marcus Rashford who was signed by Aston Villa from Man United in January, looks to break into Unai Emery’s starting 11.

Marco Asensio joined Aston Villa in January, and he too will be vying with Rogers for a starting spot at the Midlands club.

Following those deals, Aston Villa may be forced to sell some of their star players, due to their high wage bill.

Morgan Rogers named Aston Villa player of the month

The club posted an image of Rogers on Instagram, proudly displaying his award for Aston Villa player of the month for January.

Solanke and Palmer showed their support for their international teammate, by liking the post.

Rogers and Villa will face off against Ipswich in their next Premier League match (15 February), as they aim to qualify for Champions League football for the second season running.

The Villains currently sit eighth in the table, six points behind Chelsea in fourth place.

Morgan Rogers is developing into a superstar at Aston Villa

Football Insider Verdict

When Rogers was initially signed by Villa, there was some scepticism at the deal, with the youngster having bounced from West Brom, to Man City, then on to Middlesbrough, with multiple loan deals in between, all before turning 20-years-old.

However, under the guidance of Emery, Rogers has blossomed into a fine attacking midfielder, almost reminiscent of Frank Lampard, with his knack for arriving late in the box to finish off an attack.

It’s not hyperbole to say he is developing into a bona fide Premier League superstar at Villa.

The attacking midfielder will now have his eyes firmly trained on a place in England’s World Cup squad for 2026, but will face fierce competition from fellow City academy graduate, Palmer.
