Dominic Solanke reacts to Harry Kane’s emotional message after devastating injury blow

Harry Kane sent a heartfelt tribute to Jamal Musiala after Bayern Munich’s Club World Cup campaign came to a end.

Bayern had produced the most one-sided result of FIFA’s revamped tournament with a 10-0 victory over Auckland City last month, but the rest of their Club World Cup displays haven’t been quite as flawless.

Vincent Kompany’s side edged Boca Juniors 2-1 and a defeat to Benfica left them second in Group C, before they comfortably dispatched Flamengo in the last 16 to set up a quarter-final clash with PSG.

The Champions League winners were strong for Kane and his team-mates in Atlanta and came away with a 2-1 win to reach the semi-finals, but the match was overshadowed by Musiala’s serious lower leg injury.

Kane sends Musiala message after Bayern injury – ‘We’re with you’

Kane’s free-scoring form in a Tottenham Hotspur shirt has only increased since his move to Bavaria, and three goals in the Club World Cup took the England captain’s tally to 41 in all competitions last season.

Michael Olise and Jamal Musiala also netted three times in this summer’s tournament, but the latter’s came to an abrupt end after a collision with Gianluigi Donnarumma in their quarter-final against PSG.

Musiala’s diagnosis after Bayern’s defeat was a fractured fibula, dislocated and broken ankle which will likely rule him out for the rest of 2025, and Kane paid tribute to him in a post on Instagram (6 July).

In a message liked by Spurs striker and England team-mate Dominic Solanke, Kane said: “Gutted we couldn’t achieve what we were working so hard to do.

“Now we need to rest, recover, dust ourselves down and come back fresh for the new season. To Jamal Musiala – we’re with you every step of the way.”

Premier League returns off the table for Kane and Musiala

Football Insider Verdict

Although Kane has scored 85 goals in just 96 appearances since his £86.4million switch to Bayern in 2023, talk of a transfer back to the Premier League has never been too far away for the England captain.

Musiala also grew up in London and has emerged as a target for Arsenal, Man City and Man United in recent months, but his serious injury will put paid to any prospect of a transfer for next season at least.

Liverpool have most recently been linked with a move for Kane in their hunt for a new number nine, but Musiala’s injury makes the 31-year-old’s role that much more important for Bayern and will surely rule out any chances of him leaving this summer.
