Dominic Solanke, Reece James react to ‘finals’ message from Chelsea’s Levi Colwill

Tottenham star Dominic Solanke and Reece James reacted to a message from Chelsea’s defender Levi Colwill on social media.

The Blues boosted their chances of playing Champions League football next season with a surprisingly comfortable 3-1 win over Liverpool on Sunday (4 May).

Pressure has mounted on Enzo Maresca after his side seemed to be slipping out of contention after a mid-season slump.

However, the Italian has wrestled back control at Stamford Bridge and is looking to end the season on a high.

Chelsea’s 4-1 win over Djurgarden means they are just a game away from a European final, and if they can claim a win against Newcastle in their next Premier League game on Sunday (11 May), they will be in pole position to be playing in Europe’s premier competition.

Levi Colwill sends message to Chelsea fans after Liverpool win

Following the win over the Premier League champions, Colwill posted three images on Instagram, captioned: “Good W at home. 3 more prem finals to go”.

The post was then liked by the defender’s teammate and captain, James, and Tottenham‘s one-time Blues striker Solanke.

Levi Colwill thriving with Trevoh Chalobah as defensive partner

Football Insider Verdict

Colwill, much like many of his Chelsea teammates, have struggled this season due to the size of Maresca’s squad.

The English defender has been paired with numerous defensive partners, including: Tosin Adarabioyo, Wesley Fofana, Axel Disasi, Benoit Badiashile, and Josh Acheampong.

As a consequence, Colwill has looked short on confidence, often having to adapt his game to the different playstyles of those put next to him.

However, Trevoh Chalobah’s return from Crystal Palace during the winter transfer window has allowed Maresca to give the 22-year-old a more regular partner at the back.

The duo now look far more assured together, and we are seeing Colwill back to his best, and it is no coincidence Chelsea are winning more regularly than they were midway through the season.
