Done deal: Everton agree terms of midfielder move after paperwork finalised

By Harvey Byrne

Everton midfielder Conor Grant has joined League Two outfit Crewe on loan until January, it has been announced.

The English fourth-tier side revealed that the 22-year-old had made the switch across from Goodison Park via their official Twitter account and website on Wednesday afternoon.

Grant’s loan move marks the fifth of his so far short career after previous spells at each of Motherwell, Ipswich and Doncaster, where he moved to twice.

His most recent move came with Doncaster, where he joined in January 2017 for a second half loan and ended up competing in 21 matches in League Two, returning one goal and three assists.

He will now be hoping for a similar return at Crewe, who are sat in fourth place in the league table with eight points gained from their first four games.

Promotion is the target for the Alex and Grant, who has just one-year remaining on his contract will be hoping to help the club reach their aim.

Football Insider verdict:

At 22 it is clear that Grant is not going to make it at Everton and this move is simply an attempt to help him try and forge a professional career once he departs the Toffees. The young midfielder has never made a senior appearance for Everton and the fact that he’s had to drop down to the English fourth tier to find a move suggests that it is quite a surprise that he has been contracted to the Merseysiders for this long. With all this in mind this move benefits all parties and Everton fans will surely be hoping for the best for one of their youth graduates.
