‘He has done huge things’ – Jansson singles out one Leeds man who is key to turnaround

By Richard Parks

Pontus Jansson has hailed Andrea Radrizzani for the “huge things” he has done since taking sole ownership of Leeds United.

Radrizzani initially bought a half-share in Leeds at the start of January before taking full control at the end of May when Massimo Cellino made way after three-and-a-half controversial years.

One of Radrizzani’s first significant acts was to oversee the exit of the popular former manager Garry Monk, who quit and joined Middlesbrough after failing to agree contract terms.

But the Leeds supremo has subsequently made significant and popular changes, which have included buying back Elland Road for £20million and sanctioning a summer squad overhaul in which 16 signings were brought in by new director of football Victor Orta.

Radrizzani also appointed the little-known Thomas Christiansen, who has steered the team to third in the Championship after 10 matches.

Behind the scenes, the Italian businessman has also won over the players with the changes he has made, including better facilities, treatment and food.

“I only have good things to say about Andrea” Jansson said, as quoted by the personal Twitter account of Yorkshire Evening Post correspondent Lee Sobot on Friday. “He has done huge things for this club.”

Jansson explained that the club is run far more professionally and that the players are treated in a completely different way to the penny-pinching Cellino days.

Leeds will aim to bounce back from their midweek defeat to Cardiff when they travel to 14th-placed Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday.

In other Leeds United news, a 25-year-old Liverpool star is firmly in the running to be the next Leeds signing.
