Donny van de Beek told to quit Man United after source’s reveal – pundit
Frank McAvennie has urged Donny van de Beek to quit Man United.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker insisted Van de Beek is too good to sit on the bench.
The 25-year-old joined the Red Devils from Ajax in 2020 and paid a reported fee of almost £40million and his current deal runs until 2025 but includes the option of a further 12 months.
On 1 April, sources told this site that the midfielder is one of the names set to depart Old Trafford this summer as Man United plan an eight-man clearout.
Van de Beek made just ten appearances for Erik ten Hag’s side this season before picking up an injury in January that has ruled him out until the summer.
Last week (4 April), Football Insider revealed that Ajax are keen to bring the Netherlands international back to the club this summer.
United are said to be willing to accept a bid of £25m after he failed to hit the heights at Old Trafford.
McAvennie insisted it may be time for Van de Beek to quit.
“I think he is a good player but he is not going to get a game with Casemiro in there,” he told Football Insider.
“When he is fit he is playing and [Bruno] Fernandes is going to be playing. The manager seems to like him.

“I think Van de Beek is way too good to be sitting on the bench.
“Do you want to retire with nobody knowing you and having not done anything? It is up to himself but if it was me I would want to play football.“
