'Shocking decision' - Leeds fans react as defender confirms Elland Road exit

By Will Butcher

Leeds fans have reacted on Twitter after youngster Jack Vann revealed on Twitter that he was to leave the club after 11 years.

The 18-year-old defender joined the club way back in 2006, but has failed to earn a new deal in the last year of his contract under manager Garry Monk and has instead been released.

Vann posted on his personal Twitter account, stating “it’s time for a new chapter” as his stay with the Yorkshire giants finally comes to an end.

Vann failed to make a single senior appearance for the former Champions League side but was a regular member of Leeds’ youth sides.

The Leeds’ number 38 closest opportunity to first-team football came this season, as he was promoted to the subs’ bench against Sutton United but didn’t make it onto the pitch.

Leeds fans reacted on Twitter to the decision to axe Vann, with many criticising the decision as well as comparing him to fellow young defender Paul McKay.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Vann put pen to paper on first professional contract last summer, but has been unable to prove why that deal should be extended and will now be on the lookout for a new club.
