'Shocking to hear that' - Rangers Exclusive: Pundit rages at what Ryan Kent has said
Noel Whelan has torn into Rangers winger Ryan Kent after he admitted the squad play better when they are the underdogs.
The former Aberdeen and Leeds hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge,
Speaking after the club’s Europa League win over Braga, Kent stated that being “underdogs…means there’s less tension in our play and less expectation.”
However, the Gers have struggled domestically recently, being knocked out of the Scottish Cup and allowing Celtic to open a 13-point gap in the Premiership.
Whelan has ripped into the 23-year-old for his comments, insisting there is only one team they might consider better than them in the Scottish top-flight.
“The only side that they’d be the underdog for is Celtic,” Whelan told Football Insider.

“Everybody else in that division, I’m sorry but they should be beating with the players that they have in their squad, at their disposal, it’s pretty shocking to hear that.
“You’re a Rangers player, it’s like Man United players saying that. You don’t want to hear it, you shouldn’t be saying it, you should be going out winning every single game in the Scottish Premiership bar the Celtic-Rangers Old Firm games.”
Rangers have now lost four league games after Wednesday’s shock 1-0 home defeat to Hamilton, only one of those coming against Celtic.
They beat the Hoops 2-1 at Parkhead in their last meeting, with the next derby day a week on Sunday.
In other Rangers news, Paul Robinson has been blown away by an “outstanding” product of the Ibrox youth system.
