Olivier Ntcham delivers verdict on Celtic star after bid is confirmed
Olivier Ntcham has revealed that his France Under-21 and Celtic team-mate Moussa Dembele ignores all the speculation about his future to concentrate on playing football.
The 21-year-old striker has been the subject of transfer rumours for months, with Brendan Rodgers confirming that the Hoops recently turned down a bid believed to be from Brighton for the player.
Ntcham believes that Dembele has what it takes to put all the rumours behind him and return to his goal scoring from of last season.
“He doesn’t read the stories about him. He just concentrates on what’s happening on the pitch.” Ntcham said, as quoted by the Daily Record.
“If you worry about what is being said you lose your head. You have to be focused on the pitch and that is it. His focus is strong.
“He is a young player and feeling good here. We don’t worry about the stories. When you have pressure on you that means you are doing good work on the pitch.”
Ntcham then disclosed that his belief that the Hoops won’t sell Dembele before the end of the transfer window.
“He is here and he is going to be here until I don’t know when but this season anyway.”
Dembele has struggled this season in comparison to last season, scoring nine goals so far this season compared to the 32 goals he scored last season.
His form hasn’t been helped by injury problems and squad rotation.
However, the calf injury suffered by Leigh Griffiths in the 1-0 win over Hibernian could lead to a run in the team for Dembele.
He had been left on the bench for the matches against Brechin and Partick, but he has the chance to establish himself as the number one striker at Celtic Park once more in Tuesday’s game against Hearts.
