Couzens delivers surprising verdict on Wood statement before Leeds win v Sunderland
By Danny Wright
Former Leeds midfielder Andy Couzens is choosing to look on the bright side as Chris Wood is expected to leave Elland Road in the coming days.
Wood, 25, announced prior to Saturday’s win over Sunderland that he would not be taking part in the clash due to the speculation surrounding his future at Elland Road.
This comes after the Mirror reported that the New Zealand international was on the verge of signing for Burnley after a £15million fee was agreed with the Whites, who still managed to walk away win all three points against the Black Cats after a 2-0 win.
Although many of the clubs’ supporters wouldn’t want Wood to leave due to his importance in the team, Couzens, 42, surprisingly believes that his old club will be picking up a more than decent fee for a striker who has only delivered the goods in one season at Leeds.
He also hinted that Wood’s scoring record from last season might not be replicated under the charge of Thomas Christiansen.

“Before last season we would of all drove him. Good price for someone that has only produced for one season. Need to move on now,” said Couzens on his personal Twitter account on Saturday.

Wood signed for Leeds in 2015 for around £3million when he left Leicester.
The former West Brom forward scored just 13 goals in all competitions during his first season at Elland Road, but last season saw him hit the form of his life as he struck 30 times across all contests.
He began this season well by scoring in the 3-2 win over Bolton on the opening day, but in his two appearances since he has failed to hit the target.
Samuel Saiz and Stuart Dallas showed that Wood might not be missed on Saturday when they scored in each half to secure a 2-0 win over Sunderland.
