'Dull, dreary affair' - McManus gives tongue-in-cheek prediction for Celtic-Rangers clash

BBC pundit Tam McManus has given a tongue-in-cheek prediction ahead of Sunday’s Scottish Cup semi-final between Celtic and Rangers.

The former Hibernian striker has tipped a seven goal thriller on his personal Twitter account.

“Score predictions for Celtic v Rangers today? I will go 4-3 to Celtic in a dull, dreary affair” he said.

The match is the fourth between the Glasgow rivals so far this season, with the Hoops winning two and the other ending in a goalless draw.

The game has high stakes for both sides, as the Hoops are on the verge of a second successive domestic treble, whilst the future of Gers boss Graeme Murty will be in doubt if the Ibrox side lose to the Hoops for the second time in a month.

There’s no doubt McManus is not being entirely serious with his match prediction, but there is a good chance that the game could be high scoring, as neither side is particularly secure in defence. Dedryck Boyata has struggled for the Bhoys at the back in recent weeks, while the same could be said of Gers defender Russell Martin, who has failed to impressed since joining the club from Norwich in January. As such, the game could come down to who scores the most goals, and as the Gers have scored more goals than the Hoops in the league so far then it could be anyone’s guess who emerges victorious.
