Early Rangers team news: Attacker recalled to XI for clash v Ayr - Insider

By Richard Parks
Alfredo Morelos has been recalled to the Rangers starting XI for their Scottish Cup clash against Ayr United on Sunday, according to a club insider.
The EstConsultancy Twitter account, which is a reliable source of news surrounding the Glasgow giants, reported early on Sunday morning that manager Graeme Murty has decided to pair Morelos and Jason Cummings in attack for the fifth-round fixture at Somerset Park.

Morelos is Rangers’ top scorer with 13 goals from 29 matches in all competitions this season but he was dropped to the bench for the team’s 2-0 midweek Scottish Premiership win against Partick Thistle.
Goals from Josh Windass and James Tavernier sealed the win for Murty’s side, whose attack was spearheaded by January loan signing Cummings in his first league start for the club.
Cummings did not get on the scoresheet but has seemingly kept his starting place as the manager is set to field his two main centre-forwards in a two-pronged attack.
The 22-year-old, who is on loan from Nottingham Forest, has scored once in his five Rangers matches to date.
Graham Dorrans, Ryan Jack, Ross McCrorie and Lee Wallace remain on the sidelines for last season’s semi-finalists.
Free-scoring Ayr beat fellow League One side Arbroath 4-1 in the previous round and are second in their division.
In other Rangers team news, it can be revealed that a key first teamer has sensationally asked to leave after the board failed to stick to their promise of giving him a new deal during the transfer window.
