Diafra Sakho has travelled with the West Ham squad for their Premier League opener against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday, according to a reliable journalist.
Football.London reporter Sam Inkersole claimed on his personal Twitter account on Sunday morning that the injury-hit star could find himself named on the bench for the meeting with Jose Mourinho’s men.
Just had it confirmed – Diafra Sakho has travelled with the #WHUFC squad for the game today. Could be on the bench.

Sakho, 27, featured in the Hammers Under-23 squad last week when they played against Tottenham and managed to come through it unscathed despite suffering with multiple setbacks over the course of the last year.
He only managed to earn four appearances across all competitions last season and his only goal of the campaign coincidentally came at Old Trafford in West Ham’s 1-1 draw there in November.
However since that game, Sakho has failed to earn a spot in the starting line-up after being dealt with a hamstring injury and then a serious back problem, which plagued him for almost the entirety of the 2016/17 season.
West Ham’s head of medical services Gary Lewin confirmed earlier this week that Sakho had been progressing towards a return to the first-team after finally putting in a full weeks’ worth of training.
Andy Carroll isn’t near to returning to action yet while Manuel Lanzini and Cheikhou Kouyate are doubtful for the fixture at Man United.
