Eberechi Eze and Declan Rice react to Lewis-Skelly’s message after ‘awful’ display

Arsenal youngster Myles Lewis-Skelly shared a message on social media despite scrutiny over his latest performance.

England beat Andorra 2-0 at Villa Park in their first game of the international break,  thanks to an own goal and a header from Declan Rice.

However, Football Insider rated Lewis-Skelly’s performance as “awful” after providing little threat down the left flank in his first start of the season.

The youngster was crucial to Arsenal last term, and his performances were rewarded as Lewis-Skelly was nominated for the Kopa Young Player of the Year trophy.

This season, though, he has lost his starting spot to Riccardo Calafiori at the Gunners and struggled to make an impact for England.

Despite the criticism, Lewis-Skelly posted on social media, drawing supportive reactions from several of his teammates.

Arsenal stars show support to Myles Lewis-Skelly

The defender posted on Instagram after the win over Andorra with multiple pictures of the game and a simple caption tagging England and adding a prayer emoji.

His teammates showed support with his message with youngster Max Dowman commenting with heart emojis, whilst Eberechi Eze, Rice and William Saliba all liked the message.

Despite a below-par performance, the 18-year-old remains a key figure for both Arsenal and England, having enjoyed a memorable last 12 months.

As well as breaking into the Arsenal senior squad, Lewis-Skelly earned his first England call-up from Thomas Tuchel in March for the World Cup qualifiers, marking his debut with a goal against Latvia, and he remains part of his plans.

For Lews-Skelly, competition remains, as Djed Spence could also make his debut, potentially impacting Lewis-Skelly’s place in the squad.

England currently top Group K in the World Cup qualifying campaign with 12 points, holding a five-point cushion over second-placed Serbia.

Arsenal open to Gabriel Jesus exit on one condition

While Arsenal had a busy summer transfer window, one player that continues to be linked with an exit is Gabriel Jesus.

Reports suggest Arsenal could be open to selling Jesus in the January window, but he must return to full fitness before the club can consider selling him.

After suffering an ACL injury back in January, the Brazilian has been recovering, and while he is now back training on the grass, he has yet to feature in any of Arsenal’s opening match squads this season.
