Eddie Howe confirms Newcastle have suffered ‘huge blow’ immediately after Arsenal defeat
Eddie Howe has been dealt a major concern straight after losing a one-goal lead against Arsenal.
Nick Woltemade headed Newcastle ahead in the first half and the Toon were a goal up until the 84th minute when Mikel Merino kick-started the Arsenal comeback.
Gabriel then struck a 96th-minute winner as Newcastle remain consigned to the bottom half of the Premier League table with just one win from six matches.
Nick Pope was fortunate not to concede a penalty in the first half after a challenge on Viktor Gyokeres went unpunished following a VAR check, but the Gunners still came away with all three points.

Newcastle suffer Tino Livramento injury blow
Newcastle already have Yoane Wissa out injured alongside Jacob Ramsey and Fabian Schar, and Howe now has another blow to contend with.
As per Alex Crook on X [28 September], Livramento looks set for a spell on the sidelines after being stretched off during the second half with a knee injury.
Howe added: “I am concerned because he’s such an important player for us.
“He’s been magnificent at the start of this season.
“He’s a big player, so if we are going to lose him it’s going to be a huge blow.”
Livramento earned an England start against Serbia during the last international break due to his performances at club level, and the 22-year-old has started all of Newcastle’s matches this season.

Livramento may have suffered an ACL injury
Howe will now be nervously awaiting the full details on how long Livramento could spend on the sidelines, in what could also prove to a blow for his chances of making England‘s World Cup squad.
As per BBC Sport [28 September], Pat Nevin is worried that Livramento could be facing the prospect of an ACL injury.
“I immediately said I didn’t like that. I was really worried,” Nevin said.
“If you have never had an injury like that, you don’t know how serious it could be. He has probably ran about 10 yards and it has gone again.
“Those ones, they can be ACLs and things like that.”
Kieran Tripper will be expected to start Newcastle’s next match against Union SG in the Champions League, but Howe may need to source additional cover in the right-back department to help the 35-year-old.
