Eddie Howe 'delighted' by Bruno Guimaraes development that's 'huge for Newcastle United' - pundit
Bruno Guimaraes’ lack of game time for Brazil is “huge” for Newcastle United.
That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the midfielder’s lack of game time at the World Cup.
Guimaraes, 25, has only played 67 minutes across two substitute appearances while in Qatar with Brazil.
Casemiro, Fred and Lucas Paqueta have all been preferred by Tite on his side’s run to the quarter-finals.
McManus claims Howe will be quietly delighted that Guimaraes has barely played at the World Cup.
“It’s huge for Newcastle,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.

“He will need a week or so to have a holiday whenever the World Cup finishes. Brazil might win it so that means he will be away for a while.
“But when he comes back he will be ready to go immediately. That’s exactly what Howe has been hoping for, he’ll be delighted.
“Bruno is so important to how that team plays, they look a bit lost without him. I don’t know if they have worked out how to play without him in the middle pulling the strings.
“It looks like he won’t start any of the games at the World Cup now. He might get a few more minutes here and there.
“Minimal chance of an injury and then he’s back with Newcastle and helping them get back into the Champions League.”
Guimaraes has scored three goals in 12 games for Newcastle this season.
Brazil are next in action against Croatia on Friday (9 December).
