Eddie Howe 'fuming' after 'shocking' Newcastle United development - pundit

Newcastle United and Eddie Howe will be “fuming” they are not sat in the top four of the Premier League.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Magpies’ start to the season.

Newcastle have only won one league game this season and sit 11th in the Premier League.

Howe’s side have registered four draws from their six outings and were unlucky not to pick up at least a point against Liverpool on 31 August.

There has also been frustration with VAR decisions with Amanda Stavely tellling Alwaleed Aldebasi (4 September), “we are talking to officials” after being pressed on the club’s response to recent poor decisions.

Kenny understands the club’s frustrations.

“Newcastle United have been so unlucky this season,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“It’s weird to think they haven’t won since the opening day of the season. They could have beaten Wolves, they should have got something at Anfield as well.

“I don’t want to talk about the Crystal Palace game anymore because everything has been said. It was a shocking decision and Newcastle should have won.

“So that’s two more points against Wolves, one point against Liverpool and two more from the Palace game.

“That’s five more points and puts Newcastle in the top four. Instead, they are in the bottom half of the table.

“You would be fuming and I’m sure the fans are, I’m sure Eddie Howe is. But hey have a good opportunity to put it right against Bournemouth this weekend.”

Newcastle face the Cherries on Saturday (17 September).

They also sit on seven points after six games of the new season.
