Eddie Howe tells Newcastle board – ‘do not sell these 12 players’
Eddie Howe will not want the Newcastle United board to sell any of his core first-team players amid a potential fire sale at St James’ Park.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson admitted he believes Howe will tell the board to “leave my starting 11.”
Newcastle ideally wants to keep hold of their players as they look to climb the Premier League table, but the club are restricted due to the profit and sustainability rules.
Those issues have handcuffed their ability to strengthen the squad, and that is increasing the need to sell players if Howe wants to bring in new talent.
Eddie Howe won’t want to sell to enhance his Newcastle squad
Newcastle are currently in a rich run of form after winning seven games in a row across all competitions.
Howe has guided the Magpies to fifth in the Premier League, and with the club just a point behind Chelsea he will now be keen to keep building that momentum.
“I can’t see Eddie Howe wanting to go away from the starting 11 that he’s got,” Robinson told Football Insider.

“If there is a meeting with the powers that be at the top at Newcastle, Eddie Howe’s stance will be, ‘leave my starting 11 or the first 12, 13 that I’ve got alone and do the best you can with what’s around that before we have to start tapping into that.’
“It’s just crazy how Newcastle are having to dodge around these rules.”
